90 Years of 1st Dipton
In 2019 1st Dipton Scouts and Guides celebrate their 90th Anniversary.
It was on a Friday evening in October 1929 when the first meeting of what is now 1st Dipton Scout & Guide Group took place. It took place in the Church Institute and was a meeting of the Scout Troop. On the 18th December 1929 the Scout Group was registered with the Scout Association and at that time it had 16 Scouts, 16 Wolf Cubs and 4 Officers.
About a year later a Girl Guide Company was formed. The Guide meetings were held in the upstairs of the Church Institute and the Scout meetings were held downstairs.
Since then many hundreds of children from the village, and from the wider area have been members, taking parting in a huge range of activities over the years.
